VICKSBURG CATHOLIC YOUTH GROUP
OUR VICKSBURG YOUTH
The Vicksburg Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) consists of 7th - 12th graders. We are currently using the EDGE and LIFETEEN programs. EDGE is for the Junior High students - 7th and 8th graders - while LIFETEEN is for the High School students - 9th thru 12th grade students. We meet on Sunday evenings rotating between St. Michael and St. Paul parishes each semester. A typical CYO meeting night includes meeting for dinner that a volunteer provides then splitting into the two groups for our "Life Night" from the program. The purpose of the programs is to learn about our faith and relate how we can bring that into our lives every day.
Besides having our meetings on Sunday nights we want to provide the opportunity for our kids to get out and meet others that share in their faith and experience how others are striving to achieve what they are. Our goals are to attend events such as Abbey Youth Fest, Jackson Catholic Diocese Youth Convention, National Catholic Youth Convention, various Mission Trips; as well as local projects including cleaning yards, volunteering at the Soup Kitchen, and other community service.
